On Christmas Day 1826, several groups came together to create a mutually beneficial society. The aim was to provide financial security to members unable to work due to sickness or injury. Almost 200 years later we’re still making a positive difference to our members’ lives, helping them plan their finances and being there when they need us most.

Savings and insurance plans for whatever life brings

To help grow your money, we offer savings plans for both adults and children. Then, when planning for the future, our Income Protection plans and Over 50s Life Insurance provide the peace of mind you need.

As a modern day mutual, we’re owned by our members not shareholders, which means more of our profits are returned to you. While our plans and services evolve, our principles of mutuality remain – our members come first, and always will:

  • We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Our simple, easy to access financial plans help you take care of your future.
  • You have a say in how we’re run. We help secure your future, you help define ours.

We’re a mutual society that acts differently. In a world of financial complexity, we believe in the power of simplicity. We’ve made it our mission to provide clear, fair plans that help our members organise their finances and secure their family’s future.

Our values guide our behaviour and the way we deliver our plans and services:

Working together

We’re a society that cares, always putting our members first. We thrive and succeed as a team, building trusting and rewarding relationships, inside and out.

Doing the right thing

We never compromise on our moral standards. We honour our commitments, always behave responsibly and act in good faith.

Making a difference

We’re committed to providing the best possible plans and services that help make a positive difference to the lives of our members.

As a member your voice is heard, and we share the information you need to make informed decisions on how we operate:

We don’t just look after our community of members – we support great causes in the wider community. One example of this is our partnership with local charity, Seashell Trust.

Based in Cheadle Hulme, close to our Head Office, Seashell Trust provide a creative, happy and secure environment for children and adults with complex learning and language disabilities. Their incredible work and commitment inspires us.

You can follow the work we do with them on our Twitter page, and by checking out our news section. If you’d like to find out more about the work they do, visit their website.
