Shepherds Friendly celebrates its 190th anniversary

Shepherds Friendly Society is 190 years old this December, and we want you to help us celebrate!

Since our foundation in 1826, on a cold Christmas Day in a tavern just outside Manchester, we have put the financial interests of our members first every time, and to celebrate, are inviting members to participate in the competitions that we are running!

1) Search for the child born at 18.26 on Christmas Day

The Society was founded on Christmas Day 1826, and what better way to celebrate than by offering a Shepherds Friendly savings plan to the child who will be born at, or nearest to, 18.26 on Christmas Day 2016! If you think this could be your child, all you have to do is fill out our simple online form, or contact our member and culture manager on 0161 428 1212 for help filling out the form!

2) Longest serving Shepherds Friendly member

Having been around since 1826, it is likely some members have been with us for a long time! Have you been a Shepherds Friendly member for a number of years? If you think you could be our longest serving member, or you know someone who might be, get in touch with us.

3) Most family generations as Shepherds Friendly members

Many of our members view the Society as an extension of their family, and we are looking for the family with the most generations being Shepherds Friendly members. If you have two, three or even four generations of your family down as Shepherds Friendly members, we’d like to hear your story.

4) Share your special Shepherds Friendly memories

As a friendly society we value our members more than anyone else. As such, if you have any special memories or experiences with the Society, we would love to hear them.

CEO, Ann-Marie O’Dea, said: “We are delighted to be celebrating our 190th anniversary this year, and we wanted to give our members and the public the chance to join us in our celebration. We are looking forward to hearing all the great stories and memories that our members hold about the Society”.
